Beyond Water delivered strong and measurable results in 2025. Through the expansion of our services across the Central Region of Malawi, we increased access to safe, reliable water for communities that face the greatest barriers. This progress has strengthened local resilience, supported economic activity, and improved long-term water security.

Strategic Goals for 2025

At the start of the year, Beyond Water set clear goals as we continued to scale our operations, enhance service quality, and strengthen climate resilience across our customer base. Our objectives included:

  • Expanding Beyond Water’s business to reach approximately 400,000 people in 1,000 rural communities
  • Maintaining waterpoint functionality above 98% for all customers
  • Repairing 400 non-functional waterpoints to restore clean water access for 40,000 people
  • Supporting gender equality by reducing the time women and girls spend collecting water
  • Increasing water security by helping communities adopt climate adaptation measures that protect groundwater resources

2025 Impact in Numbers

By strengthening our operations and working closely with rural communities, Beyond Water moved decisively toward achieving these goals. In 2025, we:

  • Secured reliable access to clean water for 387,450 people in rural Malawi
  • Grew our customer base with over 700 active contracts, raising our total number of communities supported with clean water access to 945
  • Completed 2,425 repair and maintenance services
  • Restored 347 non-functional handpumps to full working order
  • Trained 6 new Area Mechanics and continued supporting our team of 25 Area Mechanics
  • Achieved an average waterpoint functionality rate of 100%

What This Impact Represents

These results demonstrate the effectiveness and scalability of Beyond Water’s service model. Since our establishment, we have secured sustainable clean water access for more than 380,000 people. Reliable water services contribute directly to improved health outcomes, stronger local economies, higher school attendance, and increased opportunities for women and girls.

Our investment in Area Mechanics remains central to our model. The addition of 6 new mechanics, combined with advanced training and incentives for our existing team, has strengthened local capacity and improved service delivery. These entrepreneurs now have the technical, business, and financial skills required to operate successful water service enterprises, ensuring long-term functionality for the communities they support.

Looking Ahead

As we prepare for 2026, Beyond Water is focused on scaling our operations, strengthening service quality, and expanding our contribution to climate resilient water systems. We look forward to building on the progress made in 2025 and continuing to deliver reliable, customer centred water services across rural Malawi.
